Roma Community

During these unprecedented times, it is important to provide support to the most vulnerable Roma/Gypsy community members to ensure they have their basic needs met. Roma/Gypsy community is one of the most persecuted communities in Europe. Most of these community members are uneducated and face severe social stigma. Here in the U.K, they are often denied access to healthcare as they physically do not look European. Therefore we have now appointed a bilingual Roma Advocacy Worker to provide phone advocacy support and signposting services.

Our clients are welcome to meet our Roma Project Coordinator and Advocacy workers to discuss their issues.

• Mondays 9AM – 3PM in Arcadia Library (Levenshulme)
• Wednesdays 9AM – 3PM in Levenshulme Old Library

We have a dedicated phone number (+44) 7561 366272, open Mondays 10-3, Tuesdays 2-5, Wednesdays 10-3 -Thursday 2-5, and clients can leave voice messages if busy or outside these hours.

Europia has produced an article about the experience of EU Roma in Levenshulme, Gorton and Longsight, which has been published by MACC as a part of their No Going Back publication.
