Communications Officer job opening (Contract)

Europia, the only registered charity to work for the benefit of European Expats in Greater Manchester and the only organisation of its kind doing the advice and cultural work is looking for a flexible, experienced, positive, problem-solving and creative individual who has the ability to take it to the next level.

Europia’s background:

We are a small team with limited resources and time. We are looking for an experienced professional who has creative and innovative ideas to strengthen our communication and fundraising initiatives. The ideal candidate will have existing links and connections which will be favourable to Europia and they will have the operational and strategic experience to manage our communications. We will also require this person to be a socially driven person with common values to Europia.

We invite a bid for the period of 12 months with costings, with a detailed plan of how you will achieve the following for Europia:

  • Organically increase our followers to 3000
  • Increase user interaction comments, repost, etc. to 75% (we currently have approximately 5% user interaction)
  • Support and recruit Europia financial supporters using the below-mentioned fundraising tools, including memberships
  • Raise funds to the tune of £5k in 12 months

The key responsibilities are:

  • To create 5 posts a week on the main page
  • Support the content creator of the LGBTQ group and Arts Collective group (and Instagram) where required
  • Make relevant posts on Twitter, Instagram and on LinkedIn where appropriate
  • Manage the newsletter on Mailchimp
  • Manage the website content and blogs
  • Be the first point of contact for social media on a weekly basis (minimum twice a week)
  • Create a maintain a relationship between external organisations and agencies including community leaders
  • Curate content and create stories and posts relevant to the posts (where a brief is provided)
  • Coordinate with translators where appropriate to create posters and graphics
  • High-quality graphics and visuals based on the Europia brand and values
  • Create high-quality events material for International Women’s Day and Europia Awards
  • Create a yearly calendar of British and European cultural events highlights (including All Saints Day, Bonfire Night, Remembrance Day, Mental Health awareness day, etc.)
