Tele-befriending line is a success

Europia’s tele-befriending line ‘Phone A Friend’ was set up for vulnerable EU nationals living in Greater Manchester.

Its aim was to tackle loneliness and isolation, and to put people into contact with others who speak the same language.

We invited people to fill out a self-referral form and ran phone conversations with volunteers in a number of EU languages including Polish, Romanian and English.

Volunteers offered a welcoming, friendly voice and a listening ear on the end of the telephone. 

Thanks to our funders GMMH and Voice 4 Change, for their backing of the ‘Phone A Friend’ service, which ran in spring 2021.
