Since August, Europia has run 12 advice sessions for Ukrainians in Manchester. Join us in one of our sessions and chat with our Ukrainian Support Worker Jenny and the Europia team about how you’re settling in Greater Manchester. You can check the next session at: https://europia.org.uk/events/

So far we have advised 25 clients, alongside their families and hosts, from Salford, Bury, Bolton, Stockport and Manchester. The most common areas we have advised on are:
We have also taken on longer-term casework, including supporting clients to extend their stay in temporary accommodation, open bank accounts and prove their right to work in the UK.
We are very grateful to our skilled volunteers who have interpreted in Ukrainian and Russian at the sessions, alongside greeting clients, doing office and translation work and providing cultural insights!
We are also grateful to the members of our Ukraine Advisory Panel, who recently had their first meeting to guide Europia’s work with the Ukrainian community.
Since April we have supported 34 households with Europia Emergency fund grants.
We offer one-off grants of £30-60 to help buy essentials such as food and medicine. We can provide one grant per household; however, Family Scheme hosts are eligible to apply separately from their guests.
Here is the support application link for newly-arrived Ukrainians: Emergency Fund Application (in Ukrainian).
Europia offers temporary school meal support for Ukrainian students who are attending school but do not receive free meals due to delays in receiving benefits. We will reimburse the schools for the meals at the end of the month if the application is approved.
Schools can request the application form at ukraine@europia.org.uk. This support is available in all local authorities in Greater Manchester. Please share this information with schools, parents and other contacts.
We are always interested in hearing ideas on how we can support Ukrainians in Greater Manchester and in hearing from Ukrainians who would like to volunteer.
Our volunteers played a key role in our yoga and craft sessions for Ukrainians in 2022.
