Roma Community Drop-in sessions

Europia aims to support and advocate for Roma rights and equality through our different projects. Take a look at what we can help you with in one of our drop-in sessions with Ramona – our Roma Project Coordinator, and her team including Elena, our Health and Well-being Project Worker and volunteers.

Ramona and Elena are known in the Roma community with clients coming from all over Greater Manchester. Their work is very important, because they give relevant information and advice to help improve clients current circumstances and most importantly, give the Roma community a feeling of support and appreciation.

In Europia’s drop-in sessions we can help with anything from finding a Romanian shop to providing information and support about residency in the UK.

Some of the frequent and recent support and advice was:

  • Translations – translation and help with letters and documents; English, Romanian, Romani
  • Going digital – help and set-up of email address, whatsapp, help and navigation with digital right to reside, birth registration
  • GP services – registration with GP, appointments schedule, prescription translations
  • Information and referral services – information about other organisations, services and service providers
  • Advice and support including welfare, housing, well-being – phone calls and appointments, school application, National Insurance applications, ID application
  • Information about food banks and other services

Roma community drop-in sessions are a very effective tool to teach clients how to be self-independent and to share and learn from each other within the community.

It is important to show appreciation and support we have for our clients and a good example was our well-being fair with great music, advice and food with great feedback from our service users. The drop-in sessions also give space to socialise with other clients and provide a safe space for everyone within the community.

Everyone is welcome to meet our team to discuss their issues. We provide support in English, Romanian and Romani.🤗
