Research and Publications

EU nationals in the UK are under-represented in social research and as a result, are often misunderstood community organisations, local councils and national government. To ensure our services meet the needs of this community, we regularly take part in research projects to better understand the problems EU nationals face. You can view examples of some of these projects below.

Central and Eastern European Attitudes to COVID-19: Listening to our Communities (2021)

Europia has produced a summary of some of the key findings of its recent COVID-19 survey. Distributed mainly through client, staff and volunteer networks, the Europia COVID-19 Survey set out to examine the opinions and attitudes of Central and Eastern European (CEE) community members towards COVID-19. The survey addressed topics such as vaccine uptake and rollout, the NHS Test and Trace programme, personal and collective opinions on COVID-19 and opinions on communication channels (most trusted and preferred).

Research Paper: Central and Eastern European Distrust of Charitable Organisations (2020)

This research paper explores why Central and Eastern European (CEE) nationals in the UK distrust charities and other organisations and as a result, find it difficult to get help. We used surveys and interviews with EU nationals and professionals to give suggestions on how Europia, and other organisations, can improve their outreach strategy to be as inclusive as possible.

An A4 Summary is available to download in English and Polish.
